When you anticipate and plan for a pregnancy it’s a time to celebrate when you receive the news.  It’s such life-changing news, but half of all pregnancies are not planned.

At Open Arms, we understand that our society has failed to reach out to women with unplanned pregnancies. The pause over a few weeks or months before your decision should be filled with plenty of information on each of the three options. Knowledge will empower you to make the best decision for you.

We all know most of what parenting would be like since we were parented and have seen both, either the good or bad. It comes with a lot of work and responsibility but also tons of rewards!

Termination of a pregnancy through abortion can seem like a simple decision, but it really is not. This is a medical procedure that needs to be consulted with a physician. We have women you can talk with who have made this decision and can share their personal experiences.

Placing is the third option you have. It has the most details, which is why choosing to place your baby has mistakenly been the least talked about.

We have state-licensed experts to take care of and explain all the details. At Open Arms we also have birth mothers who chose adoption in your situation; they are the best mentors to explain to you what placing their baby through the adoption process meant for their lives. There are so many services and support given to you during pregnancy and after too. Since the adoption option (we call it Choosing to Gift) involves the most people and enables a new family to grow by your selflessness, it’s sadly been the choice that’s been shared the least. We are changing that!

All of our team have had at least two of these choices in their personal lives, and our founder has experienced all three. We add our experiences to our social workers and life coaches to make sure you get a clear picture of what any and all of the three choices would mean for you in the stage of life you are currently in. Each choice is hard since this was not planned! There will be positives and negatives that will be news to you, but you need to hear about them all.
